First of all I would like to thank everybody who has shared their experiences on this website, because:

Until now you could read here all reports as they came in. Thanks to all of you so many have come in that from now on you will find them sorted.

This not only allows for a better overview, but has the advantage of providing more specialized information for patients who were not treated at the clinic in Dortmund. After all it is only one of several excellent hospitals, which provide hip dysplasia treatment. Since I was operated in Dortmund it is difficult for me to adequately meet all your requests.

Thanks to all your feedback, I know, that there are differences in triple osteotomy treatments. For non-doctors, it always seems to be the same the triple osteotomy operation in which the pelvic bone is cut in three different places ( pubis, ischium and ilium) and is then rotated to achieve an optimal covering of the femoral head by the acetabulum. However other hospitals have either advanced this procedure or applied methods developed by others (Dortmund: triple osteotomy according to Tönnis).

Therefore the method by which the operation is conducted and where the bones are cut may differ from hospital to hospital. Some may also use bone grafts. Since all this affects the recovery period I am sorting them according to hospitals.

The triple osteotomy operation has becomed a well established treatment of hip dysplasia, but it is by no means the only possible procedure to correct this condition (Overview of the various osteotomies). Therefore you will find here reports from people who underwent other types of hip operations.

Here you will also find the experiences of patients whose hips deteriorated to such a degree that they were excluded from a joint preserving operation. For them a hip replacement was inevitable

And of course I do not want to withhold the experiences of people who decided against the operation.
